i learned a lot of useful things about the internet.I will use those search engines and techniques for the rest of my college career. I really like the delicious account and will continue to use that. However I don't think I learned how to write any better. We spent a lot of time researching on the internet but didn't spend very much time learning how to construct our papers and that's what i thought this class was for.

Granneman, Scott. "RFID Chips are Here." Security Focus (2003): 29 pars. Web. 20 Nov. 2009. This article was against using the human microchip and brought some very strong points to the argument.

13a) survey
Gender: M or F
Age:

Background information:
Microchip ID’s (RFID chips) are in everything in the modern world; from barcodes to pet trackers to credit cards, even cell phones. Over 80% of all merchandise in the United States have a microchip embedded somewhere in the product. In 2005 the FDA authorized the VeriChip Corporation to start producing a RFID chip to be use in humans. Eventually it would be a way to store medical information, used as a GPS tracker if activated and many other benefits.

1. Have you heard of the VeriChip? If so how?

Major corporations have now started requiring their employees to get chipped.
2. Do you think businesses should be allowed to do this?

Some government officials think that it should be mandatory for all soldiers going over seas to get a chip implanted. Their view is that it would help find MIA’s and POW’s quicker and helps identify the deceased soldiers.
3. Should soldiers going over seas get chipped? Should It be mandatory?

4. Do you think it would be beneficial in the long run if all children had to be chipped?

5. Do you consider the VeriChip and all it’s advanced technology a violation of your privacy? Why?

6. If the government made the VeriChip low cost or even free for anyone willing to get it would you choose to get chipped?

7. Do you think the VeriChip should be mandatory for all U.S. citizens? If you don’t think so would you revolt or protest against the decision?

I have finished collecting all my data from my survey. and i have written my background info about my topic and i got my visual aids. I still need to write my essay and find my introduction thing. I'm writing the paper tonight.

III) Identifying victims easier
a) For military purposes
i) With all the casualties, many dealing with dismembered bodies, would identify John and Jane Does
ii) More reliable than dog tags
(1) Can’t be switched
b) For crash and fire victims
i) If they are unable to communicate and have no paper identification could identify quicker
IV) Secure easy access to important documents, such as medical information and social security, without carrying the papers.
a) Hospital can just scan your arm and they gain access to your past and present medical information
i) Could save your life because they get information quicker
b) Lessen identity theft
V) Search and Rescue missions
a) Child abductions
i) If children are chipped at birth
ii) When activated there is a GPS tracking device programmed in (like lojack for kids) the Chip and would find the missing children quicker than the Amber Alert System
b) MIA and POW
i) Easier to track down missing soldiers
(1) Getting them out quicker and more likely alive
ii) More reliable than dog tags
VI) Opposing side
a) Privacy problem
i) is it violating any rights
b) religion if
i) If it’s against anyone’s beliefs and they make it mandatory would it be mandatory for those religious groups
ii) And if they make them have it then it would be a violation of the Church vs. State law

10a) Thesis Statement

The VeriChip should be required for all military personal going over seas and recommended for all U.S. citizens, especially children because it would make search and rescue missions more successful, identifying victims easier, and secure universal access to important documents without carrying them.

website research
  • In Suggest insuggest.com
  • You can search websites, images, and bookmarks (on delicious).
  • finds strong useful websites and weans out most of the rubbish
  • the image search and bookmark search don't work very well. The image search only searches on flicker and most images on there aren't that good. The bookmark search is not connecting with delicious very well so you can't search for bookmarks at this point in time. You also don't have an option to save the searches you found on InSuggest
  • Search engines, directories, and other applications searched
  • Databases ?
  • Operators ?
  • it is very case sensitive and very picky on the words you use.
  • Stop words: the a and or
  • there is no advanced search option
  • Limits ?
  • it sorts websites by tag words
  • the page is set up so that there are thumbnails of the websites and you can scroll through them 8 at a time.
  • there is no help function. there is a blog and a twitter but those pages are not any help.
  • Special features: you can choose 6 webpages and then they pick similar pages about that topic.

I tend to use yahoo and Google because they are the easiest to work. They tend to give me a lot of bogus sites. Yahoo and Google are fast and get me information I need but if I really want important info I tend to use Bing or Ask because they give me better information.

I'm not really sure what I'm going to do for my field research. I think I might do a survey.
Or I'll find some major groups that are for and against human ID's and interview them.

research question

I typed my essay into technorati and found some you tube videos. there all saved on delicious. Most of them are against it so far.

i don't think I need to widen or broaden my topic it seems to work pretty well right now. It's not too narrow and not to broad

pg. 45 question
who would want microchip ID's? Who is it required for?
What is the purpose of microchip ID's?
When would it be required for everyone to have them?
Where would it be required to have one what places would be excluded? where would it stop?
How would we pay and receive one?
Why should we allow this? Is it voluntary?
Should the nation be going in this direction?
would this be invading our privacy?

I'm writing to the general population.
If and when will it become mandatory for everyone to have one. Does this invade their privacy. Is the government gaining too much control?
Proving that this is a good thing and very beneficial in the long run.

Should microchip ID's become mandatory for everyone and what are the benefits of having a tracker chip.

my topic for the argumentive paper

I've chosen the use of microchip ID's for commercial use (private, governmental, military, etc..). A few weeks ago i was watching a Dateline 20/20 episode on the use of small ID trackers now being used in multiple places and not just for animals anymore.
In the future I think it will be very benifical for the society especially for the military and lost and kidnapped childern. I do't know very much about the topic but I do know that some large companies and research labs are using them for their employees. We also have already started injecting them into our family pets and those have been very benificial.
I really want to know approximently how many ID's are already in use in the US and how long and how much it will cost, including all the devises to locate and read information off of it, for this product to be streamlined and used in the public.
