my topic for the argumentive paper

I've chosen the use of microchip ID's for commercial use (private, governmental, military, etc..). A few weeks ago i was watching a Dateline 20/20 episode on the use of small ID trackers now being used in multiple places and not just for animals anymore.
In the future I think it will be very benifical for the society especially for the military and lost and kidnapped childern. I do't know very much about the topic but I do know that some large companies and research labs are using them for their employees. We also have already started injecting them into our family pets and those have been very benificial.
I really want to know approximently how many ID's are already in use in the US and how long and how much it will cost, including all the devises to locate and read information off of it, for this product to be streamlined and used in the public.
